People decide to go travelling for a multitude of reasons. For some, they feel they have come to a point where they need to make a change to figure out what they want from life; others travel to experience more of the world and open their minds to other ways of living. However, some people just enjoy the opportunity to see beautiful places and relish different climates. No matter what your reasons for travelling are, one thing that most people can agree on is that travelling is expensive, and if you aren’t earning an income, it can start to take a toll on your bank account. With this in mind, here are a few simple ideas of how you can make money while you travel.
Investing
Many people assume that the best thing to do with their money while they are away from home is just to keep it in a savings account. However, while a savings account will keep your money safe during your time away, it’s not going to do you a world of good in terms of generating revenue. Most savings accounts offer little to no interest on the money stored in them, so if you would like to earn money from your finances, then you might want to consider investing. There are a number of ways you can invest your money, from real-estate to the stock markets; check out this TD Ameritrade broker review for more information. You just have to find something which will work for you and your financial portfolio.
Writing
There are a variety of opportunities for writers to pick up jobs while abroad, as you don’t need to be in the country complete assignments. If you work as a writer, you can simply send in your work electronically, meaning that so long as you know you will have a reliable internet connection on your travels, you can essentially work from anywhere. In particular, one easy job would be to work as a travel writer, either for a blog or magazine and keep accounts of your experiences in each place that you visit. Most employers will either pay per article or per word count and even if the pay isn’t great, it will still get you a little bit of extra income while you are gone.
Photography
Similar to writing, photography can be a great way for the avid traveller to earn some income while they are away. However, there are very few employers who will contract you to take photographs while you are gone, so this type of work can be difficult to find. As an alternative, you can take pictures as you go, and then send your best ones over to a company which you think might be interested in purchasing them. Similarly, you could upload them to a site where you still retain the rights to the pictures, but people can purchase them for their own personal use, such as for on a website.
Work as you go
Finally, if you know you are going to be staying in one place for an extended amount of time, then you could consider finding employment in the place where you are staying. For example, there might be bars or shops in which you can work in, such as working behind the bar or customer service.
