London’s Dynamic Dining SceneEven though I’m quite small in stature and size, one of my favourite things to do in London is find a new place to enjoy a snack or meal.  I enjoy gathering with my friends after work and on the weekends to explore new restaurants and pubs that have good drinks and great food.  Being a connoisseur of delectable foods I’d like to share some of my favourite places where you can tantalize your tastebuds and delight in some exceptional cuisine for your evening on the town or whilst shopping with your friends.

London’s Dynamic Dining Scene

The food scene is an ever-changing phenomena so I find myself continually exploring new venues as well as frequenting some of the older places to see what they have on the menu that’s new.  Sometimes I find myself in Covent Garden and the next weekend I’ll be in the East End to satisfy my palate’s desire for something new and fresh.  I particularly enjoy the rooftop bars in the summer time, afternoon tea at some of the local hotels, and the taste of traditional London underground.  Before I have to run out and grab a snack, let me share some of my favourite places where you can have an intimate meal or a snack in a high-energy location with your family and friends.

My Favourite Places

  1. I’ve always loved the 70’s so having a meal at Axis located in the basement of One Aldwych Hotel is an excellent place to dine with friends. I’d have to recommend the marinated fig salad as an appetizer; your dining options are either two or three course fares all priced very reasonably.  You’ll love the ambiance, the wall murals, and the quiet surroundings in this great location.
  2. For my morning cappuccino I love to go to Alloro on Dover Street. If you’re in the area later in the day, you might try the beef and crushed potatoes or the lobster spaghetti for your entrée.  I particularly like the white linen cloths on the tables which adds a touch of elegance to the dining area.
  3. For great service, excellent food, and sinful desserts, I enjoy dining at the Grill Room in the Dorchester Hotel. Not only is the food prepared to your liking but also the service is outstanding.  The décor of tartan on almost every object in the restaurant is almost overwhelming but the presentation of the food and its exceptional taste make up for any lack of interior design.  Here you must have the Armagnac parfait as the end to your perfect meal.
  4. One of the hottest places on my list of favourites is the Typing Room where you will find dishes packed with flavour, impeccable service, and cocktails that are to die for. The décor is interesting and you’ll enjoy some of the original pieces from the old town hall.

Dining out is my passion and when you visit one of my favourite restaurants around London, you’ll be amazed that you once overlooked them for more traditional venues.
